In his talk, Róbert Gálfy shares what inspires him most today – winter tours and ski-mountaineering linkups in the High Tatras. Blending his experience as a mountain guide, climber and former ski-mountaineering racer, he sees each tour as a carefully composed puzzle combining uphill skiing, climbing sections and a rewarding descent.

Gálfy is one of Slovakia’s leading mountaineers and ski alpinists, with over 700 ascents to his name. He has completed first ascents on peaks such as Jannu and Fitz Roy, climbed Gasherbrum I alpine style, and competed among Europe’s elite in ski mountaineering. Since 1993, he has also been dedicated to training mountain guides and helping integrate Slovakia into the international guiding community.
